De Tomaso Rises From the Ashes For Its 60th Anniversary

Late last year, rumours circulated about the return of the legendary De Tomaso brand. At this summer’s Goodwood Festival of Speed, we will meet the new car.

De Tomaso is probably the best-known obscure carmaker of its day. The De Tomaso Pantera is the car that put the brand on the map. They also produced the lesser-known but still highly attractive Mangusta before it. Late last year, rumours of the company’s revival began circulating and now it is confirmed.

De Tomaso will introduce its new car at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, on July 4, 2019. There are no other details on the car itself other than it being internally referred to as “Project P” at the moment. We suspect renderings and various hints will be dropped between now and the fantastic FOS.

Apollo Automobili is behind this revival and they’ve been hard at work preparing the new car. In a chat with duPont Registry, Ryan Berris, De Tomaso General Manager and CMO said: “Since the acquisition of De Tomaso we have been secretively working behind the scenes on a world-class revival strategy with the intention to go public with our efforts for the 60th anniversary. When the new car debuts this summer, not only will another special vehicle be added to the brand’s heritage, but the story will finally be told.”

We very much look forward to seeing this “Project P” in July. It will certainly one of the highlights of the show.
