- Only 50 of the Italdesign Nissan GT-R50 will be built.
- If you’re interested, it’s not too late as there are some reservations left.
- These collectibles will be powered NISMO-tuned 720 PS 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged V6.
We laid eyes on the Italdesign Nissan GT-R50 for the first time at last spring’s New York Auto Show. At a special event commemorating 50 years of the legendary GT-R, we got a first glimpse of both the Nissan 370Z and Nissan GT-R 5-th anniversary cars as well as attempt to make sense of the GT-R50’s incredible shape.
Italdesign, a famed and legendary auto design and engineering company based in Turin, Italy, was tasked with creating a unique commemorative edition of the equally famed and legendary R35 Nissan GT-R. What they conceived is unlike anything we’ve ever seen. From some angles, it looks garish, from others, like a true work of art. From the complex body panels, customers will be able to personalize their vehicles.
“Our customers have relished the personalized experience provided by Italdesign, who have a long tradition in the exclusive field of ultra-rare, bespoke high-performance vehicles,” said Bob Laishley, global sports car program director at Nissan. “Their experience with the GT-R50 has been incredible and I can say first-hand that each car will certainly be a standalone masterpiece.”
Demand for the 990,000-euros (before taxes and options) Italdesign Nissan GT-R50 does not seem to have met expectations, at least since production of the car was officially almost exactly a year ago. At the time, deliveries were planned to begin in 2019 and continue through 2020. Today’s announcement, as well as the fact that there still are a limited number of reservations for the remaining models available supports this.
The first production customer model of the Nissan GT-R50 will be on display at the Geneva Motor Show next March.
