A Texas-based tuning shop, European Auto Group, is offering a transmission swap for the 2020 Toyota Supra.
We’ve been talking about the new Supra for months now and even more since its release last month. One of the biggest talking points was the fact that this sports car doesn’t come with a manual transmission.
Toyota decided to not offer one and instead, the A90 Supra only comes with the ZF eight-speed automatic gearbox.
If the only thing holding you back from purchasing the Toyota sports car was this, your prayers have been answered. Indeed, a Texas-based tuning shop called European Auto Group (EAG) is currently taking customer deposits for a manual transmission swap in their MKV Supra.
This will not be the first time the Group received some media attention with a transmission swap like that. EAG made the headlines a few months ago when they completed the world’s first, according to them, Ferrari F430 Scuderia with a gated manual transmission.
In an interview with the automotive publication CarBuzz, Art Bartosik, the owner of European Auto Group said that the manual gearbox swap in the A90 Supra will cost “around $12,000 for parts and labour”. The change should take “between 30 to 45 days to complete” answered Bartosik.
The manual transmission used for the swap should fit without any hassles since EAG will use original BMW OEM parts. Even though OEM parts will be used, Toyota’s warranty will probably be voided. But again, EAG is there for you. Bartosik indeed confirmed to CarBuzz that they are “looking into a four-year/50,000-mile warranty to cover all of the cars.”
The first manual-swapped 2020 Toyota GR Supra from the Group will be showcased at SEMA.
