Discover the Pinnacle of Luxury and Off-Road Performance in the 2024 Lexus GX 550

Lexus Sets a New Benchmark with Its Most Advanced and Off-Road Capable GX Yet

Lexus is continuing its proud legacy in the SUV segment with the all-new 2024 Lexus GX 550, a vehicle that not only elevates the adventure-ready SUV category but also redefines it as a “Sophisticated Utility Vehicle”. Building on its two decades of experience in the sector, the new GX 550 is poised to offer a perfect balance of elegant features, off-road capacity, and the luxurious refinement that Lexus is renowned for.

The 2024 Lexus GX 550, the first ever to showcase the global Lexus “Overtrail Project”, is a tribute to the brand’s commitment to offering both daily luxury and go-anywhere capability. This vehicle beckons you to take the less traveled path, to indulge in the sheer pleasure of driving, and to traverse with ease from urban errands to off-the-beaten-track adventures.

A refined beast

The exterior of the GX 550 boldly communicates the rugged charm of a true body-on-frame SUV. Its design marries an aggressive and tough exterior with a calming, luxurious interior. The square-body profile with a horizontal design motif adds to the stable, grounded stance, while the bold Lexus spindle body concept enhances its off-road functionality. The standard 33-inch All-Terrain tires and 18-inch wheels on the Overtrail grades complete the formidable exterior look. To summarize the looks, it’s the Japanese Land Rover Defender or, better yet, a proper fitting modern tribute to the beloved Land Cruiser.

Inside the GX 550, Lexus presents an oasis of luxury, equipped with a low, horizontal instrument panel that provides an uncluttered, open space. The standard 14-inch Multimedia Touchscreen Display is the centrepiece of the cabin, delivering a range of controls within easy reach. With its seven-seat capacity, the GX 550 offers an inviting, comfortable environment for both short and long journeys.

Evolved engines and suspension system

The power and performance of the GX 550 is as impressive as its aesthetics. The heart of this beast is a 3.4L twin-turbo V6 engine, which churns out 349 horsepower and 479 lb.-ft. of torque. For those who prefer hybrid vehicles, Lexus has announced that a hybrid powertrain will be available at a later date. For those wondering, it’ll be a Lexus variant of the 437 horsepower and 583 lb.-ft. of torque i-Force MAX engine from the Tundra and Sequoia.

The GX 550’s impressive performance extends to its off-road capabilities. The standard Full-Time 4WD, electronic locking rear differential (on Overtrail grades), and Torsen limited-slip centre differential with locking feature, ensure a high level of controlled performance on varied terrain.

Safety is another key aspect of the GX 550. The Lexus Safety System+ 3.0, which includes features such as Pre-Collision System (PCS) with Pedestrian Detection, All-speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC), Lane Tracing Assist (LTA), and more, comes as a standard.

The all-new 2024 Lexus GX 550 is more than just a sophisticated utility vehicle; it’s now more than ever, a modern premium status symbol with, as expected, true off-road chops. This serious luxury SUV hits the market in early 2024.
