The Durango has been on the market since late 2010, meaning it is now almost 17 years old. At such a venerable age, one might assume that its reliability and build quality would be perfectly under control, but apparently not. Not only is it not under control, but Dodge is issuing another recall for a recall that had already been the subject of another recall… Since this is a recurring news topic with the Durango, you can probably guess that the rear spoiler is once again the culprit. Ridiculous may not kill, but it can certainly be embarrassing!

There was a recall in 2021 (Y73), another in 2023 (20A), and now yet another one in 2026 (61D), all involving the rear liftgate spoiler, which can detach after coming into contact with the roof or the vehicle’s structure. This will be the third time Stellantis has attempted to repair or correct the issue. Dealers may be following the prescribed procedures, but it appears that Stellantis’ proposed fixes either do not hold up over time or are simply inadequate.

The problem has persisted since 2021 and has continued to grow as more model years have been added. Initially, 503 vehicles were affected. That number increased to 18,163 in 2023. Clearly, the repair worked on certain versions of the Durango, since the current recall involves 10,029 vehicles in Canada. The Durango models affected by this mysterious problem are from the 2021, 2022 and 2023 model years.
What remains fascinating is that the automaker says it is still developing a solution. Affected owners will therefore be contacted at a later date.

Issue: On certain vehicles, the repairs completed by an FCA (Stellantis) dealership under recalls Y73 and 20A (Transport Canada recalls 2021-663 and 2023-090) may not be effective. As a result, another repair is required.
On certain vehicles, the rear spoiler could come into contact with the body when opening or closing the rear liftgate. This could damage the spoiler and cause it to detach from the vehicle.
Safety Risk: A spoiler that separates from the vehicle could create a hazard for other road users.
Corrective Actions: FCA Canada (Stellantis) must notify owners in writing. Corrective measures for this recall are still being developed.
This is the 41st recall involving this generation of the Dodge Durango.
