Subaru debuted Performance-E and Performance-B STI concepts at the Japan Mobility Show 2025.
The electric Performance-E and gasoline-powered Performance-B reflect Subaru’s evolving performance strategy.
Wilderness and Trailseeker prototypes also featured in Subaru’s Adventure Scene display zone.
Subaru has unveiled two new STI concept vehicles at the Japan Mobility Show 2025 in Tokyo, introducing the Performance-E STI and Performance-B STI models for the first time globally. The event opened to the press on October 29 and will run to November 9 for the public.

The Performance-E STI concept showcases Subaru’s vision for a future battery electric vehicle (BEV) under its performance banner. Looking like a shooting break and designed to reflect the brand’s styling heritage, the concept features aerodynamic proportions, a spacious interior, and a layout focused on the driver. Subaru states that the model incorporates advanced technologies intended to deliver a responsive and intuitive driving experience.

In contrast, the Performance-B STI concept, a HATCHBACK(!) retains an internal combustion engine. The vehicle leverages Subaru’s core engineering strengths, including a horizontally-opposed engine and Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive. It is positioned as a practical yet performance-focused concept that maintains the brand’s traditional driving characteristics.
Also on display in Subaru’s “Adventure Scene” zone are the Forester Wilderness prototype and Outback Wilderness prototype.
We have but one fear when it comes to Subaru concepts: The production versions seldomly look as good as the concepts that inspired them. Both the Performance-E STI concept and Performance-B STI concept have us hoping that what will roll off the assembly line will be just as exciting.
No details or specifications have yet officially been shared.
The Japan Mobility Show 2025 runs from October 29 to November 9 at Tokyo Big Sight, featuring global debuts across the automotive and mobility industries.
