Almost 20 years after The Fast and the Furious movie hit our screens, a new cartoon based on it will be available soon on Netflix.
Nobody could’ve predicted the massive success the first The Fast and the Furious movie and all the other movies from the series that followed. But here we are, eight movies and a multi-billion franchise later and now a TV Series.
The animated series is the first in a multi-year deal between Netflix and DreamWorks Animation Television. The animated show will be called Fast & Furious: Spy Racers. The official description says: “Teenager Tony Toretto follows in the footsteps of his cousin Dom when he and his friends are recruited by a government agency to infiltrate an elite racing league serving as a front for a nefarious crime organization bent on world domination.”
This week, DreamWorks Animation Television dropped the first teaser of this new show, shown above.
The brief trailer shows two cars racing each other in what seems to be the Los Angeles River. The pair of vehicles are similar to cars found in the GTA video game series than any actual cars we know of.
Vin Diesel and Chris Morgan, among others, will serve as executive producers on this new Fast & Furious: Spy Racers series. Chris Morgan was the screenwriter of most of the Fast & Furious franchise while Vin Diesel was a producer of the last five movies.
The latest movie of the franchise, Fast & Furious: Hobbs & Shaw, will be released on August 2, 2019.
