When Stellantis was established following the merger of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles and Groupe PSA, we were expecting the newly formed automaker to quickly sift through its numerous brands and phase out a few of them. We were also assuming it would pull the plug on the Fiat brand in Canada and in the United States. Neither one of those has happened yet.
In both countries, Fiat’s lineup is as small as it can possibly get. Will new products be introduced as Stellantis shifts its focus on fully electric vehicles? Is it even worth it given that the company already exploits several brands here, including traditional American marques? We shall see, but for now, here’s what to expect from Fiat in 2022.
The Fiat 500X is the brand’s only model left in the United States and Canada. It’s equipped with a turbocharged 1.3L inline-four with 177 horsepower and 210 pound-feet of torque, along with a nine-speed automatic transmission and standard AWD. A posh new Yacht Club Capri edition has been added, based on the Sport trim, which features exclusive Venenzia Blue paint, satin trim and 18-inch alloy wheels, ivory leather seats with blue piping as well as woodgrain interior trim. Meanwhile, an Al-Fresco retractable fabric roof is now available in four colours—one of which is exclusive to the Yacht Blue Capri edition.
The Fiat 500 hatchback and 500c convertible were sold during the 2012 to 2019 model years, while the Fiat 500L wagon was sold between 2016 and 2021. The Fiat 124 Spider roadster was introduced for the 2016 model year and was pulled from the lineup after 2020.
