Fiat 500e Production for Canada has Started

Electric Fiat on the way

  • 500e will be lightest, cheapest EV in Canada

  • Model built at historic Turin plant

Fiat has just built the first 500e bound for Canada. The electric city car was just built at the company’s Mirafiori plant located in Turin.

The Mirafiori plant in Turin is the oldest operating auto factory in Europe, though it’s not the one with a rooftop test track that was made famous in The Italian Job. The plant covers more than two million square meters and has 20 km of railway lines linking its warehouses.

It’s fitting that the oldest plant will be building the company’s oldest nameplate, but both have been significantly modified and powered up for the future.

Fiat has already built more than 185,000 copies of the Fiat 500e. They’ve been sold across the world, but this is the first time the new 500e will be available in Canada or the U.S.

The 2024 Fiat 500e is launching with a special (Red) edition, which benefits that charity. Fiat will continue to launch special 500e models to keep it fresh, with what it calls “drops.” A term borrowed from the streetwear scene.

With a starting price of $39,995 before incentives, the 2024 500e will be the lowest-cost 2024 model-year EV sold in Canada. It will hit dealers in BC and Quebec in the spring, the two highest-demand EV markets, and expand as production increases.

The 500e will have a 240 km range and will be the lightest EV sold in Canada.
