The Ultimate Chiron was revealed last June
Engine and chassis changes let it hit 440 km/h all-out
Nearly a year after its initial reveal, the fastest Bugatti yet has finally begun rolling out of the factory. The Bugatti Chiron Super Sport is completely sold out, but now they can finally start to be driven.
While every single copy of the 1,578 hp Bugatti Chiron Super Sport is special – they will, after all, hit 440 km/h “effortlessly” – some customers have gone further with the customization options of their special hypercars.
One of the first cars to be delivered comes with “Vagues de Lumière” bespoke paintwork from Bugatti’s Sur Mesure team. It’s an intricate paint pattern designed to mimic how showroom lights would reflect off of the Super Sport’s panels. Even more impressive, the fantastic finish is hand-painted, taking many hours of work to complete to Bugatti’s specifications.
“It’s extremely exciting to be witnessing the first customer units of the Chiron Super Sport come together within our Atelier,” said Bugatti President Christophe Piochon. “Hearing brand new 8.0-litre W16 engines fire up for the first time, knowing that they are soon to become a centrepiece of our customers’ collections across the globe is a personal highlight. The experience of driving a Chiron Super Sport cannot be compared to anything else the automotive industry has to offer, and we very much look forward to our customers covering many unforgettable miles behind the wheel.”
The Super Sport uses a revised version of Bugatti’s 8.0L W16 that gets four larger turbocharges and a new cylinder head and valvetrain to help it make that headline power figure. Revised steering and suspension changes are meant to keep it stable at 440 km/h, and an extended tail plus modified nose work to maintain its aerodynamic balance at that speed.
Who are the first owners of the Super Sports? Surprisingly, they haven’t posted to Instagram, so we’ll have to wait and see for the first cars to make their appearances.
