Milano sits one size down from Tonale
Will offer EV and hybrid drive
Alfa Romeo‘s first EV will be called the Milano. The small electric crossover will be revealed in April, at an event in the city it is named for.
Milan is important to Alfa, it’s where the company began way back in 1910. The automaker calls Milan “the city where it all began.” The cross and serpent in the company’s logo both represent the city. The company has chosen that city name to represent the start of the company’s electric vehicle era.
“With the arrival of Milano in 2024, Alfa Romeo completes a line-up capable of meeting the desires of all our enthusiasts and much more. Milano is intended as a symbolic ‘welcome back’ to all our Alfisti fans. As owners of the Giulietta and Mito, they have been waiting to confirm their love for Alfa Romeo. It also serves as a ‘welcome’ to anyone looking for a unique sporting experience in this segment and the distinctive beauty of Italian design, said company CEO Jean-Philippe Imparato.
The Alfa Romeo Milano won’t be offered only as an EV. The company said that it will “also be available” in an electric version. This will be the company’s first subcompact crossover, one size smaller than the Alfa Tonale.
Alfa’s first model that will not offer a gas engine will come in 2025. Just two years later the brand says its range will be 100 percent electric.
