Ram’s EV will be called the Ram 1500 Rev
Expect more to come this Sunday
Ram has just announced the name of its first electric pickup. Get ready for the Ram 1500 REV, a truck that, well, won’t actually be able to rev.
The name is to help show that the truck is a revolution, rather than implying it can spin revolutions. As the brand’s first EV, this really is a big deal even if it trails Ford and GM to market.
“At Ram, we started a revolution last year as we invited consumers along on the beginning of our electrification journey, gathering their feedback on exactly what they are looking for in an electric pickup truck,” said Mike Koval Jr., Ram brand CEO – Stellantis. “We look forward to delivering our first EV pickup – the all-new Ram 1500 REV – to those consumers next year. We are confident the Ram 1500 REV will push past the competition, offering what will be the leading combination of attributes customers care about the most: range, payload, towing, and charge time.”
Ram says that production of the EV pickup is set to start sometime next year. It’s only February of 2023 right now, so that could be quite some time. Still, it will probably be at showrooms well ahead of the Tesla Cybertruck.
So far, we’ve only seen concept versions of the truck. The Ram Revolution Concept truck had next-level styling, a cab that cut into the box, and a midgate opening that let owners run cargo from the tailgate to the front bumper.
We’ll get to see the production truck on Sunday, though. Ram says we’ll have more info about the production 1500 Rev on the 12th, and we’ve heard rumours that say it will be in the truck brand’s big game ad.
