ChargePoint picked up what is likely the first public sighting of the Tesla Model Y.
The entry-level electric Tesla Model Y will very likely become the best-selling Tesla model when it arrives in 2020. Based on the Model 3 and essentially the same car with a higher body, the Model Y is priced at just over $66,000 and comes standard with 483 kilometers of range. You can order your Tesla Model Y today, but Tesla’s site says production will start “late next year”.
In other words, a Tesla Model Y on the road is a very rare sight.

The good news here is that Tesla is already testing the Model Y on the road. That means that for once Tesla may be on schedule with deliveries. Granted building the Model Y will be easier than starting from scratch with the Model 3. Both cars share the same powertrains and the same platforms as well as the same interior. The main difference is the body and the added cargo capacity of the Model Y’s sport utility vehicle configuration.
