Nearly 800 VF 8 models headed to Canada
The VF 8 is already on its way aboard the Silver Queen
The second shipment of VinFast vehicles to North America has just left port in Vietnam. About half are going to the U.S, and half to Canada. It’s the first shipment of the electric vehicles to this country.
The Silver Queen left Haiphong earlier today, headed for the Port of Benicia in California. When it arrives, 1,098 models will be unloaded for the U.S. market. It’s the second shipment of VinFasts for the U.S.
After those are unloaded, the ship will be headed north. No port was listed, so we expect it to be Vancouver. Once the Silver Queen reaches Canada, it will unload the first VinFasts to be delivered here. 781 VinFast VF 8 crossovers.
The overseas crossing will take 20 days, plus a few more to make it to Canada. Vinfast said that U.S. deliveries are expected to start in May. Canadian deliveries are set to start in June.
Europe is next, with Vinfast expecting a batch of exported cars to arrive there in mid-July. The ship will be loaded with 700 VF 8 models.
VinFast is still taking reservations for both the VF 8 and VF 9. The former is targeting up to 402 hp and 457 lb-ft of torque with an electric range of up to 471 km. The latter is a larger SUV with a bigger battery, aiming for a total 594 km range.
The new automaker has eight stores in Canada, including locations in BC, Ontario, and Quebec.
