Fisker Ocean to be built by Magna
Will go on-sale Q4 2022
Electric automaker Fisker is planning to reveal its all-electric crossover next spring. The Fisker Ocean will be revealed at the 2020 Los Angeles International Auto Show, which will now be held in May of 2021 thanks to pandemic-related delays.
Fisker calls itself “designer and manufacturer of the world’s most emotion-stirring, eco-friendly electric vehicles,” and, well, we’d have to agree that its products so far have been quite good in the styling department, at least. While the company was close to closing, a just-announced strategic cooperation with Magna International that will see that car builder support the development and manufacture of the Ocean has meant that Fisker can proceed.
“It’s with great excitement that we’re making the global debut of the Fisker Ocean here in our home city of Los Angeles. As befits the world’s first digital car company, we are also planning to showcase several Fisker-unique technologies that will support our differentiated ownership experience and vehicle functionality,” said chair and CEO Henrik Fisker.
The Ocean, teased in the lead photo above, will be built by Magna in Europe, and while we’ll have to wait for the details the announcement says it will “deliver class-leading range, functional interior space with third-row seating and overall vehicle performance.”
Fisker also announced this week an order of 300 vehicles from Danish ride-hailing service Viggo, a tech-driven startup ride service company that is focused on a fleet of all-electric vehicles. While the Ocean will be revealed in LA, it’s not set to see production launch until the fourth quarter of 2022.
