This second vehicle for Fisker is to be expected in 2024
The automaker claims the base price for this model will be $29,900 in the US
The company’s CEO says a prototype will be unveiled earlier than he anticipated
Fisker released a new teaser image depicting its second model to be unveiled, the Pear compact SUV.
This new model will be smaller and more affordable than the Ocean, another new electric SUV that will be sold by the brand as a 2023 model.
The smaller dimensions of the Pear will make it a little bit shorter than the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and its starting price will make it significantly cheaper, since the company says the Pear will start at only $29,900 in the United States.
To allow such a starting price, Fisker says this vehicle will feature a simple design with a minimum of individual parts and its manufacturing will be outsourced to Foxconn, which are now the owners of a former General Motors assembly plant in Ohio.
The image shows what to expect from the styling of the front end of the Pear. The very narrow headlamps are connected by a slender black bar, similar to what has been shown on the Ocean and there appears to be a grille lower in the bumper, which integrates a camera that will most likely be used for the vehicle’s driver assistance features.
The company has not yet revealed many details about this model, apart from saying that it will have sporty driving characteristics ad that it will feature many industry firsts.
These firsts are still unknown, but they will help the Pear live up to its name, which is an acronym for Personal Electric Automotive Revolution.
The brand’s CEO said on Instagram that a prototype for this model will be shown later this year, which is earlier than had originally been planned.
Apart from the Ocean and the Pear, Fisker is said to be working on two high end models: the Ronin sports car, which has already been teased, and a luxury SUV. In addition, the company says the platform used for the Pear could be used for two other small EVs.
