This electric sports car could have over 550 miles (885 kilometers) of range
The production version is said to arrive in 2024
Fisker has yet to introduce the Ocean and the Pear, its two electric crossovers
Fisker is working on two electric SUVs, the Ocean and the Pear, but now the company is announcing a future sports car as well.
This project, called Ronin, is set to be a potential competitor to the next generation of the Tesla Roadster that is supposedly in the works.
The automaker released a teaser picture with some information that gives an idea what to expect.
Indeed, the brand’s CEO claims this model will have a range of over 550 miles (885 kilometers) and a starting price under $200,000 USD.
The image shows a car with the traditional proportions expected from a performance coupe, with its long hood and pronounced wheel arches. A previous picture had hinted at an available convertible roof.
The company said a prototype version of this model will be unveiled in August of 2023 and it should be followed by the production version in 2024.
Since Fisker has yet to introduce its first model and given the instability of the automotive industry, it is difficult to know if these predictions are realistic and delays are likely to be experienced.
In the meantime, the small company is working on the Ocean, an electric SUV it unveiled a couple of months ago. This vehicle is supposed to compete with the Tesla Model Y and its production will begin in November.
The engineers at Fisker are also busy developing the project Pear, another electric SUV that should be more affordable than the Ocean and is expected to roll of the assembly lines in 2024.
Speaking of assembly lines, Fisker is too small a company to have its own production facility, so it teamed up with Magna Steyr to assemble the Ocean in Austria and with Foxconn to make the Pear in Ohio. The production site for the Ronin project has not been determined yet.
