The only and only one Lamborghini Pregunta Concept will hit the auction bloc on October 10th in Belginum.
This is a unique concept, only one built
It’s based on the Diablo
It should sell between 3,7 to 5,2 million dollars
Every so often, a unicorn supercar surfaces that even seasoned enthusiasts barely remember. The Lamborghini Pregunta is one of those machines, a radical one-off concept that marked Lamborghini’s final design study before Audi took control of the brand. Despite its Spanish name, “Pregunta” translates to “question”, the car was built in France by coachbuilder Heuliez, with styling heavily inspired by the Dassault Rafale fighter jet. There is one and only car like that.

Origins and Performance
Unveiled in 1998, the Pregunta was based on a modified Lamborghini Diablo platform and was fully functional. Lamborghini quoted a 0–100 km/h time of 3.9 seconds and a top speed of 337 km/h (209 mph). For years, the car sat on display at the Automobili Lamborghini Museum in Sant’Agata, but it will cross the block this fall at the Broad Arrow Zoute Concours Auction in Belgium on October 10, 2025.

A bit of history
After Heuliez sold it to a private collector in 2008, the Pregunta resurfaced in Lamborghini’s heritage program. It received official Polo Storico authentication in 2014 and was serviced and inspected again in 2021 before rejoining the museum collection.
Interestingly, while the Pregunta was conceived under Chrysler’s ownership of Lamborghini, it wasn’t shown publicly until the 1998 Paris Motor Show—by then, Lamborghini had already been acquired by the Volkswagen Group.
Jet Fighter Inspiration
The idea of a fighter-jet-inspired Lamborghini doesn’t shock anyone today, cars like the Reventón and Egoista have since leaned heavily into aerospace themes. But the Pregunta was the true pioneer. Penned by designer Marc Deschamps, its carbon-fibre body was sprayed in the same matte grey shade used on the Rafale jet.

Although Audi would later steer Lamborghini in a very different styling direction, the Pregunta’s sharp lines, minimalist finish and futuristic materials still resonate with the “fast machine” ethos of the late 1990s.
Up front, its silhouette recalls the Pagani Zonda, which would debut just a year later. Inside, the cockpit borrowed from Formula 1, featuring a Magneti Marelli digital instrument cluster and rear-view cameras in place of conventional mirrors.
Specifications
For all its avant-garde flair, the Pregunta retained an old-school driver’s bias. Unlike most Diablos of its era, it was rear-wheel drive and equipped with a gated five-speed manual gearbox—a purist’s delight. Under the engine cover, Lamborghini’s 5.7-litre naturally aspirated V12 delivered a stout 529 horsepower and 446 lb-ft of torque, with a traditional key ignition to fire it up.

Value and Collectability
Auction house Broad Arrow estimates the Pregunta will fetch between €2.5 and €3.5 million (approximately $3.7 to $5.2 million CAD), well above the €1.6 million it was last marketed for. Beyond its polarizing looks, as the is only one Pregunta it the world, now it carries the prestige of a Lamborghini Museum piece.

For collectors of Lamborghinis, this car would make a great addition alongside models like the Invincible (2023), the Veneno (2013), the Essenza SCV12 (2021), or the upcoming Fenomeno (2026). With the Pregunta, there’s no doubt the collector would be the only one to own such a unique piece.
