Ford Adds a California Special Edition to the 2026 Mustang Mach-E GT

The 2026 Ford Mustang Mach-E GT gains a California Special package similar to the one offered on the Mustang coupe and convertible.

  • This package was first created for the Mustang in 1968, and modernized for the current generation in 2024.

  • The Mach-E GT/CS features blue exterior elements, blue leatherette and suede upholstery, and special badging.

  • The California Edition boasts 450 km of range, 480 horsepower, and up to 700 lb-ft of torque, like the regular GT version.

In an effort to tie the Mustang Mach-E closer to the pony car of the same name, Ford is adding a California Special package to the 2026 model year of its electric crossover.

The California Special name is familiar to Mustang enthusiasts, as its history goes all the way back to 1968, when the automaker worked together with its California dealerships to develop an appearance package that would celebrate the pony car’s success in the Golden State.

While the original package was only offered for a few months, the name was brought back a number of times throughout the Mustang’s history, most recently in 2024.

Usually comprised of red, black, or grey accents, the California Special edition was reimagined with the launch of the current generation of the Mustang.

Now, this package features dark blue exterior and interior elements and GT/CS logos. This new colour (Rave Blue) was reportedly created to recall the Pacific Ocean and the state’s coastline.

The same is true of the brand-new Mach-E California Special, which is inspired by, but not identical to the package offered on the coupe and convertible.

Building on the GT trim level, the California Special edition of the electric crossover brings an illuminated blue pony logo up front, grey 20-inch alloy wheels with a blue “GT/CS” script on one of the spokes, as well as a grey, black, and blue graphic on the hood inspired by the California coastline.

Inside, the seats are covered in Navy Pier Blue Active-X and Miko, a vegan alternative to leather and suede. The same leatherette is also found on the dashboard, the armrests and the center console, where a “GT/CS” logo is embossed. White and blue contrast stitching rounds out the changes over the regular Mach-E GT.

The California Special package doesn’t include any changes to the powertrain, which means that the GT’s output of 480 horsepower and 600 lb-ft of torque remains intact, as does the advertised figure of 450 kilometres of range.

Like the GT, the California Special can be ordered with a performance upgrade that boosts the torque up to 700 lb-ft, making possible a 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h) sprint in just 3.3 seconds.

Order books for the 2026 Ford Mustang Mach-E GT California Special will open on October 22nd.
