Ford’s EV product run will also include an electric version of the Explorer.
The Lightning was revealed on May 19th.
Based price in the US is just under $40,000.
The all-new 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning cannot fail. And it will not fail. Of all the new electric vehicles to be launched in 2021, the Lightning is by far the most significant and important. The name alone guarantees that its market penetration will be strong.
The Tesla Cybertruck may have a million or so hand-raiser but, although Musk should never be underestimated, it’s not “real”. The race to market will be won by Rivian when the first R1T pickups leave the assembly line next month but the fact that the F-150 Lightning exists is probably enough to get numerous buyers to hold off. The Lightning may also sway Cybertruck reservation holders to change their minds as well.
Also part of Ford’s EV plans, which include not only the Mustang Mach-E, the E-Transit, and an electric Maverick, the Blue Oval will introduce an electric version of their immensely popular 3-row Explorer as well, according to the New York Times.
