The new Velociraptor version is aptly named Velociraptor 1000.
Its larger supercharger boosts output by 40% over the Raptor R.
As the OE badass performance super-truck, the Ford F-150 Raptor needs all the power. Regrettably, for Raptor fans, the Ram TRX came out of almost nowhere and knocked the F-150 on its rear with massive supercharged V8 power. Even more unfortunate is that the highly-anticipated Raptor R with a new 5.2L supercharged V8 failed to beat out the TRX’s output numbers. Hennessey once more has a solution for the power blues.
It’s crazy to think that 700hp and 640 lb.-ft. of torque isn’t enough… The TRX does just better enough with 702hp and 650 torques but its position as the extreme off-roading king has officially been challenged.
The “standard” Raptor R is fitted with a 2.65-litre supercharger that Hennessey replaces with a larger 3.8-litre unit. With high-flow induction, larger fuel injectors, upgraded fuel lines, a new supercharger belt, and following final calibration, the output is expected to climb by 40%. The final numbers are yet to be shared however it’s a safe bet that nearly 1,000hp and more than 850 lb.-ft. of torque will be the result.
John Hennessey, company founder, and CEO: “The Hennessey VelociRaptor is the world’s best-selling modified performance truck, of which we’ve built thousands for customers all around the globe. The VelociRaptoR 1000 raises the performance bar significantly in terms of sheer power. Add in the characteristic supercharger whine and the distinctive exhaust note from the unique cross-plane V8, and the package is unbeatable.”
Pricing for the new 2023 Hennessey VelociRaptor is not yet known however $85,000 USD to start seems reasonable. Also included are new front and rear bumpers, a front LED light bar, 20-inch Hennessey wheels with 37-inch off-road tires, VelociRaptoR 1000 badging and a serial-numbered build plaque.
Production begins in 2023.
