2022 will be the Ford GT’s final production year.
The Ford GT ’64 Prototype Heritage Edition will be available in limited numbers.
The 2022 car will be displayed alongside the sole surviving 1964 GT Prototype.
Only one of the original five 1964 Ford GT prototypes remains today. The priceless chassis# GT/105, which still wears its original livery, will be on display during Monterey car week and it won’t be alone. GT/105 has served as the inspiration for the final run of heritage cars for the second-generation Ford GT as it will be offered in another superb Heritage Edition guise.
The 2022 Ford GT ’64 Prototype Heritage Edition will feature a classic Wimbledon White paint and triple racing stripe exterior scheme. As a modern supercar, it will also include exposed carbon fibre behind Antimatter Blue-painted carbon fibre wheels and Lightspeed Blue Alcantara suede seats.
“This is the first Ford GT Heritage Edition that goes beyond celebrating race wins – this one goes deep, and honors the earliest of Ford supercar heritage,” said Mike Severson, Ford GT program manager. “The Ford GT ’64 Prototype Heritage Edition is a modern interpretation of the original, with no mistaking what this car is paying tribute to.”
In the event that you’re unaware of the heritage, Ford swept the 1966 running of Le Mans by taking all three steps on the podium, crushing Ferrari in the process, because they wanted to.
