Ford Is Picking Up iZEV Incentive Slack For January

Easing the load for left-out EV buyers

  • Ford is offering up to $5,000 to match axed fed incentive

  • Applies to models delivered before end of January

Ford is the latest to announce that it will be replacing the suddenly cut federal iZEV incentive with one of its own. Select Ford and Lincoln EV and PHEV models will get the incentive until the end of January to help ease the transition for buyers who were set to take ownership of a new plug-in model.

Ford’s statement reads:
“While the pause of the iZEV program with such short notice has been incredibly disruptive, building an enduring electric vehicle business with a highly competitive cost structure that balances growth and profitability remains a priority at Ford.

The federal government’s abrupt suspension of the iZEV program will negatively impact the sale of electric vehicles, and we urge the government to reinstate incentives as soon as possible to help customers make the switch to electric vehicles.

In response to the federal government’s suspension of the iZEV program, Ford of Canada is introducing a manufacturer incentive. The incentive will be available for sales on eligible vehicles between January 13th and 31st, 2025, to support customers through the transition. This incentive is not intended to permanently replace the iZEV program.”

The models covered by a $5,000 incentive include the 2023-2025 Ford Mustang Mach-E, 2024-2025 Ford Escape PHEV, and the 2023-2025 F-150 Lightning in Pro and XLT trims. The 2024-2025 Lincoln Corsair PHEV gets a $2,500 incentive.

Ford is the second automaker to officially announce plans to assist buyers, with Nissan the first. Other automakers are expected to follow suit, and we have heard reports that several are already doing so unofficially.
