Mustang Mach-E gets more power, bigger brakes
Sports seats and summer tires for track-ready electric
Ford has readied the latest version of the Mustang Mach-E, and this time it’s the quick one. The Ford Mustang Mach-E GT Performance edition offers larger brakes, summer tires, and a host of other features that Ford says makes it ready for the racetrack.
Buyers in the US will get two versions of the GT, one with 480 hp and 600 lb-ft, badged the GT and one with 480 hp and 634 lb-ft along with the other performance features like larger brakes and specially calibrated powertrain and suspension badged GT Performance Edition. Buyers in Canada get only the Performance Edition.
On top of the extra torque, which pushes the Mach-E from 0-100 km/h in 3.7-seconds, the Mach E GT PE gets 385 mm front rotors with Brembo calipers lurking beneath 20-inch wheels wearing 245/45R20 Pirelli summer tires.
Ford says that the engineers used the extra tire grip to calibrate the motors more aggressively to deliver the extra performance, while MagneRide continuously adjustable magnetic dampers work to improve the Mach-E in the corners.
Inside, the Performance Edition Mach-E has Ford Performance seats that are trimmed in a special grey ActiveX seating material and have Miko perforated reflective inserts and metallic stitching. The exterior sports a carbonised grille with an illuminated pony badge and GT series badging as well as a hands-free power liftgate and black mirror caps. It will offer Cyber Orange and Grabber Blue paint as the highlights of the pallette.
With a range of 378 km, the 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E GT Performance edition is available to order now starting from $82,995 in Canada with deliveries expected to start in the fall.
