Ford Offering Ranger Splash With Limited-Edition Colours for 2022

Ford freshens up Ranger with a splash

  • Splash a callback to 1990s stepside trucks

  • 2022 gets new seats, special graphics, unique colours

Ford is bringing back the Splash to the Ranger pickup. The midsize truck will get its own unique stripe package as well as matte black wheels and special seats, and Ford will change up the colour every few months to something different to keep it fresh.

Ford Ranger Splash was originally a sticker and trim package offered in the stepside version of the trucks back in the 1990s that came with a lowered suspension. Today’s doesn’t offer the stepside or the lowering, but it does continue the spirit of the original.

The first Splash will be this orange one. It takes the orange truck and adds orange and black side graphics as well as trim-specific matte black 18-inch wheels. Orange trim inside the grille as well as gloss black accents on the bumpers, mirror caps, and fender vents help set it off.

Inside, the Ranger Splash gets its own seats with orange contrast stitching and a carbon grain with tuxedo stripes. That’s fabric on XLT and leather on Lariat. The steering wheel, shifter, and parking brake all get orange stitching. The package can be paired with FX2 or FX4 off-road packages and is only offered on Super Crew trucks.

Ford says that it will reveal Splash limited edition trucks every few months. This orange will be offered for the full year, but Ford plans on adding the limited edition colours in batches of just a few hundred each. The first of those will be the Splash Snow Edition. Ranger Splash will be priced at $1,495, with deliveries to start for U.S. buyers by end of year. The trucks will also be offered in Canada, though pricing has not yet been set.
