The extra length will come from a longer bed.
The current bed is 5 feet long.
Ford essentially owns the pickup genre in North America. As we all know, the F-150 is the King and the Maverick is quickly becoming a go-to alternative to SUVs, sedans, and even some midsize trucks. In the latter segment, the Ranger has been the #2 best-seller for a while but that may change when the new one arrives.
The midsize Ranger has done well for Ford since it rose from the grave for North America in 2019. Units have moved swiftly but the best-seller title has eluded the Ranger as the legendary Toyota Tacoma continues to outsell it.
The new-generation Ford Ranger was late last year however Canadians and Americans are still waiting to find out more about their versions. One aspect, as confirmed by Automotive News, will be the addition of a new box length that will extend the Ranger’s hauling capabilities.
The current box stands at five feet in length and although the longer bed’s size is unspecified, based solely on the image, we suspect it will reach a maximum of six feet. We should find out more later this year as the new Ranger is set to debut in 2023.
