EZ Air Trademark applied for in July
Ford planning more than 200 Bronco accessories
We haven’t yet seen many of the hundreds of accessories Ford has promised for the Bronco SUV, but a new trademark filing uncovered by Ford Authority (via Motor1) might be at least giving us the name of one of those sets of doors.
The filing is for something called EZ Air and was made back in July. Under goods and services, it lists “land motor vehicle doors” otherwise we’d probably assume the name was for some sort of open roof. Or maybe a jump mode?
What will the doors be? None of us is guessing yet, though Ford has already shown off some interesting doors-off options for the Ford Bronco including a set of already available tubular bar-style doors that offer a pretty good compromise between open air and the safety of not falling out of the open hole in your truck. They also showed off a concept donut door that had a large opening in the middle of where the metal would normally be instead of the more open tube door. That one isn’t going to production.
Production of the Bronco Two and Four Door doesn’t start until spring, so Ford has plenty of time to reveal this (and other) accessories. Or it could be just a trademark for a name that’ll never see the light of day. Keep an eye on the Ford Bronco configurator and accessory catalogues and there’s a chance that the new door idea, or at least the new door name, will pop up one day. Not all accessories get a press release, after all.
