Ford Racing has unveiled the 2026 Mustang Dark Horse SC, the most track-capable Mustang Dark Horse to date. Developed using technology and learnings from the Mustang GT3 and Mustang GTD programs, the vehicle will be powered, in no uncertain terms, by a supercharged 5.2-litre V8 engine and a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission.
2026 Shelby Mustang GT500 Expected as Ford Expands Engine Production
Designed and tested by Ford Racing engineers, the Mustang Dark Horse SC delivers boosted performance and handling compared to the standard Dark Horse. The new model is a solid part of Ford’s strategy to grow its high-performance Mustang lineup with more track-ready options.
The supercharged 5.2-litre V8 is paired with a dual-clutch transmission to deliver fast, precise shifts. Although output specs are withheld, the previous GT500’s hand-built Predator Supercharged 5.2L V8 produced no less than 760 hp and 625 lb-ft. of torque. Expect no less for the Dark Horse SC.

The vehicle also incorporates suspension upgrades, including revised geometry, firmer springs, new stabilizer bars, updated knuckles, forged suspension links, and a lightweight magnesium strut tower brace. Testing alongside the Mustang GTD and GT4 at tracks including Sebring and Virginia International Raceway, the Dark Horse SC uses a recalibrated MagneRide suspension system and Variable Traction Control derived from racing applications.
Brembo brakes are standard, featuring six-piston front and four-piston rear calipers. Customers selecting the optional Track Pack receive carbon-ceramic brakes, 20-inch carbon-fibre wheels, and custom Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tires measuring 305/30R20 at the front and 315/30R20 at the rear.

With the Track Pack, total rear downforce reaches 620 pounds at 180 mph. Other aerodynamic elements include a new ducktail-style rear decklid and carbon-fibre rear wing.
The Dark Horse SC features revised cooling and aerodynamic elements, including a vented aluminum hood with hood pins and a redesigned front fascia. A rear diffuser and underbody belly pan assist in managing airflow and brake cooling.

Inside the cockpit, the Mustang adopts the flat-bottom steering wheel from the GTD with performance controls and Alcantara wrapping. The optional Track Pack includes Recaro sport seats in leather and Dinamica, with Teal or Space Grey accent options. The rear seats are replaced with a storage shelf in this configuration.
Buyers can personalize the Dark Horse SC further with optional painted graphics, carbon-fibre exterior finishes, and a range of brake calliper and seatbelt colours. A Teal Accent Package adds teal badging and brake components.
A limited Track Pack Special Edition includes a black-painted roof, Race Red Brembo callipers, unique exterior graphics, and GTD-derived 3D-printed titanium trim. Available in Shadow Black or Oxford White, the package also adds Solar Red accents to the Recaro seating.
The 2026 Mustang Dark Horse SC will be available to order in spring 2026, with deliveries scheduled for summer. Pricing and ownership program details will be released closer to launch.
