Full-Size Replica of the Koenigsegg Sadair’s Spear Becomes Fastest Lego Car Ever

• The plastic car achieved a top speed of 111 km/h down a reversed Goodwood hill climb circuit.

• This is more than double the speed of the previous fastest Lego car.

• This feat marks the launch of the 1:8 scale Lego Technic set of the Sadair’s Spear.

As Lego is about to launch the Koenigsegg Sadair’s Spear Technic set on July 1^st, the company broke records with a full-size replica of the hypercar.

Indeed, the Danish company’s engineers took more than 9,400 hours to develop a one-off full-size replica of the Sadair’s Spear, which is composed of 327,906 parts, many of which were conceived especially for this project.

The creation weighs about 1,800 kilos (3,968 pounds), or about 480 kilos (1,058 pounds) more than the real car.

Despite this, the Lego creation moves quite well, as attested by its recent record-breaking run down the Goodwood hill climb circuit.

With Koenigsegg’s own test driver, Markus Lundh, behind the wheel, the Lego car achieved a top speed of 111 kilometers per hour.

While this sounds impressive on its own, it is even more so when we consider that the previous fastest Lego car, a full-size Technic recreation of the McLaren P1, topped out at 50 km/h.

In addition to its speed, the Lego Sadair’s Spear also apparently recreates the sensations of the real car quite well, as the driver said he felt much of the same things he did in the real Sadair’s Spear.

Lundh knows what he’s talking about, too, since he was the one who drove the real car during its record run up the Goodwood hill climb a year ago.

While the Lego creation can’t replicate the real Sadair’s Spear’s 1,603-horsepower output, it does feature Ghost Mode, which opens the dihedral doors and front and rear hoods simultaneously.

This feature is also present on the actual Lego Technic kit, which will become available to Lego Insiders members on July 1^st, before being offered to the general public on July 4^th.

Other items recreated by the 1:8 scale model include the V8 engine and the 9-speed sequential gearbox, which features a rotating disk that shows which gear is selected.

The car’s triplex suspensions are also present on this kit, which includes 4,104 pieces and measures 59 centimetres long by 28 centimeters wide, with a height of 15 centimeters when fully built.

Those who buy the kit during the first six days after its introduction will also be offered a Lego Technic replica of the car’s square steering wheel.

The full-size replica will be displayed at the Festival of Goodwood 2026 before being shown at other promotional events around the world, while the 1:8 kit will be available for purchase at a price of $629.99 CDN.
