Most of these exports were sent to the US.
These are October and November numbers.
For a number of auto journalists, the introduction of the GV80 SUV was one of the first and last events we attended in early 2020. The COVID-19 lockdown put a freeze on Genesis’ plans to roll out their new anticipated SUV as well as the G80 luxury sedan. By the looks of it, they are working on making up for lost time.
Sales are down at Genesis but it’s likely due to low inventory. According to the Korean Car Blog, deliveries in November were down 26.7% year-over-year. Unfortunately, and judging by interest and praise generated by the GV80, the stats should have been far greater for 2020. Between October and November, Genesis exported 4,017 units of the new G80 and 6,595 units of the GV80, the majority of which were shipped to the US, its biggest market.
Genesis is far from done, in fact, they’re just warming up. We’ve seen the updated G70 sedan, the all-new GV70 SUV, both of which will land in 2021. Hyundai’s luxury brand will start bringing these two models State-side in the first two quarters of 2021. As well, Genesis’ first EV is planned for launch in 2021.
