Genesis Headed for 22 Models and Variants by 2030 Under Hyundai Growth Plan

Hyundai says Genesis will expand to 22 models and variants by 2030 as the automaker increases U.S. investment, local production targets and hybrid offerings.

  • Genesis plans to reach 22 models and variants by 2030, up from eight today.

  • Hyundai ties brand expansion to $26 billion in U.S. investment through 2028.

  • Hybrid models are planned for Genesis as dealers open larger standalone retail facilities.

Genesis is preparing for a significant product expansion, with Hyundai planning to grow the luxury brand to 22 models and variants by 2030. Hyundai CEO Jose Muñoz disclosed the target at last week’s New York International Auto Show, giving the clearest indication yet that Genesis will move well beyond its current U.S. portfolio.

The brand now lists eight models on its North American websites, and includes: GV60, G70, GV70, Electrified GV70, G80, GV80, GV80 Coupe, and G90. This means the new objective points to a much larger lineup over the rest of the decade. Hyundai did not specify which vehicle categories Genesis will enter, and Muñoz did not say how many of the 22 entries will be entirely new nameplates versus additions to existing products.

The Genesis plan sits within Hyundai’s investment program. The automaker has committed $26 billion in the U.S. by 2028 and plans to build a manufacturing system that relies much more heavily on domestic assembly and local parts sourcing. By 2030, Hyundai wants 80% of the vehicles it sells in North America to be built domestically and assembled with roughly 80% local content.

This is an important step for Genesis because the brand’s future volume growth will increasingly overlap with Hyundai’s production footprint, supply chain decisions and retail strategy. A larger Genesis range would also give Hyundai a stronger presence in more premium segments.

Electrification will not be the only part of that next phase. Muñoz also said Hyundai plans to increase its global hybrid lineup to 18 models by 2030, including the company’s first extended-range hybrid. Hyundai also said hybrid offerings will be included in Genesis’ future product plans.

Retailers appear to be planning for a bigger lineup already. Many Genesis dealers have been building new stores with up to 30,000 square feet, suggesting expectations for additional products, higher throughput, or both.
