Genesis X Speedium Concept Coupe Gets Equally Stunning Cabin

X Speedium concept adds interior to match the bodywork

  • X Speedium concept gets cabin to match

  • Genesis continues to deliver stunning design

Genesis revealed the stunning X Speedium Coupe electric concept this spring as part of the New York auto show. We got a great look at the outside, but it turns out the car has a cabin as well. Genesis revealed that interior at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance over the weekend.

“The X Speedium Coupe was conceived as an internal design exercise that we later decided to reveal publicly. It was nothing more than a hard model built on our Athletic Elegance design identity,” said Genesis Chief Creative Officer Luc Donckerwolke. “Given the positive reception it received at the event, we chose to complete the concept and present it to discerning attendees at the Pebble Beach Concours. The interior captures the Genesis brand’s “Beauty of White Space” design ethos, which suits various luxury lifestyles and adds to the appeal of the dynamic GT.”

“The Beauty of White Space,” Genesis says, is a classic Korean design principle, inspired by its architecture. It’s a reductive design, featuring strong design elements and minimalism outside of them.

The cocoon-style dashboard puts all of the controls surrounding the driver, with a center console curved toward the pilot and flowing into the dash. The rest of the cabin is extremely minimal, with little there for the passenger, but it’s still not dull. There are textures and detailing at play to make it interesting.

Genesis finished the cabin in Monterey gold, a tan colour inspired y the Northern California terrain, with the driver’s area a Pinegrove Green contrast to go with the Inje Green seating. The leathers include vegetable tanned hides and a new breathable grain leather that is processed with less water and no chromium.

There are still no production plans for the car, but now that it has an interior, we can’t help but hope for that to change.
