Norway is, per capita, the largest consumer of EVs in the world.
This ad is part of GM’s EV push.
The Big Game airs this Sunday.
Will Ferrell is one of the most loved Hollywood superstars. His comedy is legendary and he’s loaned his talents to GM in a series of Super Bowl ads poking fun, we assume, at Norway. As you may or may not know, Norway is the only country in the world where EVs outsell ICE vehicles.
Indeed, more than half of all new vehicles sold in the Scandinavian country were battery-electric-powered in 2020. As GM begins to roll out its “everybody in” electric vehicle campaign, few platforms draw a greater audience to get a message out than the Super Bowl. And few personalities are more endearing than Ferrell’s.
As a reminder, GM has earmarked more than $27 billion for electric vehicle technology. Over the next four to five years, GM will introduce 30 new EVs based on their Ultium battery technology.
Whether you care about EVs or not, GM’s spot starring Will Ferrell, as reported by Automotive News (subscription required), will explain Ferrell’s jealousy and we know will undoubtedly be entertaining.
