GM applied for the trademark on February 4th.
The GMC Hummer EV will be sold as both a pickup and SUV.
The big reveal is planned for May 20th.
This is another situation where it was a matter of if, and not when, General Motors was going to apply to trademark the GMC Hummer EV Logo with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). Another surprise is that the trademark application has been accepted by the Office. Now, all we need to do is until May 20th and, if all goes according to plan, we will finally get to see the new fully-electric GMC Hummer EV.
The expectations for this Hummer EV duo consisting of a pickup and an SUV are extremely high. These trucks will land square in the middle of a slowly but surely building war of electrified trucks. With Rivian, Ford, Tesla and a handful of others looking to capitalize on big potential sales and revenues.
GM recently uncovered its big plans for its future collection of electrified products. It includes the BT1 platform and, for the GMC Hummer, a number of powertrain configurations. With the possibility of one, two, or three electric motors, the top-line Hummer will be offered with up to 1,000-horsepower, enough for towing lots of stuff or sprinting to 100km/h in just over 3 seconds.
