Hummer SUV coming next month
Reveal to be part of NCAA March Madness
The next iteration of the electric Hummer is nearly here. GMC is showing off testing the Hummer EV in the icy cold, but they’re also giving us our first look at the GMC Hummer EV SUV that’s set to debut in early April.
The cold weather testing on Michigan’s Upper Peninsula is nothing new, and the vehicle will also likely have spent plenty of time at GM’s Kapuskasing, ON, winter test site as it makes its way to dealers. It’s the teaser that has us intrigued.
GMC is showing us the silhouette of the Hummer EV SUV, the electric SUV based on the GMC Hummer EV truck’s platform. We can’t use our usual tricks to extract more detail from the photo, since automakers seem to have caught onto those methods, but we can still see the EV.
As expected, it’s a version of the truck with a roof extending all the way to the back. Plus a tailgated-mounted spare wheel and tire as you’d expect from a Hummer. It looks to have rear fenders that bulge out much like the pickup, but there’s not more than that. We expect it to have similar range, size, and performance to the pickup-truck version of the new Hummer EV.
So when will we get to see it? GMC says April 3rd, when the automaker will reveal the SUV as part of the NCAA’s March Madness tournament Final Four event. Reservations will open for buyers the same day.
