The Chevy Trailblazer will squeeze in between the Chevy Trax and Equinox. Inspired by the Chevy Blazer, it will at least bring attitude to the table.
We could discuss all day GM’s questionable naming scheme but the bottom line is that the 2021 Chevy Trailblazer is on the way and will be very small. Meanwhile, Buick has introduced its own version of the Trailblazer as the Buick Encore GX. It will position itself between the Buick Encore and Buick Envision.
The 2021 Chevy Trailblazer is expected to arrive in early 2020 as a far more attractive compact SUV than the Trax. In fact, Chevy will have to be careful with its pricing strategy as the weak-selling Trax may fall deeply into the Trailblazer’s shadow. Styling-wise, the Trailblazer sure looks more appealing thanks to its Blazer roots.
There are very few details on both the 2020 Buick Encore GX and 2021 Chevy Trailblazer other than they will be loaded with many built-in safety features such as Front Pedestrian Braking, Automatic Emergency Braking and Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning.
Under the bonnet, we can expect the Equinox’ 170-horsepower turbocharged 1.5-litre 4-cylinder engine, 6-speed automatic transmission and available AWD. If Chevy really wanted to boost the Trailblazer’s cred, it would also offer the turbocharged 2.0-litre engine. We doubt they’ll do it though.
We’ll surely get to see the final production versions of both the 2020 Buick Encore GX and 2021 Chevy Trailblazer at this fall’s LA Auto Show at the very latest.
