Google Built-in Takes the Wheel in the 2024 Honda Prologue

The First Honda SUV to Feature Google Built-in, Wireless Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto Compatibility

  • The 2024 Honda Prologue, featuring Google built-in and wireless Apple CarPlay, to debut early 2024.

  • Prologue’s tech-rich cabin includes optimized Google Maps and Over the Air (OTA) software updates.

Honda is gearing up to launch the all-new 2024 Prologue, the first volume EV from the automaker. Expected to hit the market in early 2024, this full-electric SUV promises to offer customers a host of cutting-edge digital services and features, including wireless Google built-in and compatibility with both wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

One of the standout features of the 2024 Honda Prologue is its integration with Google built-in, making it the first Honda SUV to adopt this technology. This feature, initially introduced on the 2023 Honda Accord Touring hybrid, is standard on all Prologue trims. With Google built-in, owners will have access to applications such as Google Assistant, Google Maps, and others available on Google Play, offering seamless on-the-go digital services.

Raj Manakkal, Assistant Vice President of Digital Services Development for American Honda Motor Co., Inc., highlighted the significance of Honda’s tech collaborations with Google and Apple. He emphasized the company’s commitment to provide customers with their choice of intuitive and accessible digital services, which will enhance the ownership experience of the Prologue.

Moreover, the 2024 Honda Prologue will come equipped with a variety of other intuitive technologies. These include an 11-inch digital driver instrumentation display, a large 11.3-inch center touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, and Honda’s first pocket type wireless smartphone charger. An optional 7×3-inch head-up display and a 12-speaker Bose premium audio system will also be available.

Honda Unveils the Styling of the Prologue Electric SUV

In terms of journey planning, Google Maps is enhanced to provide EV owners with optimized route planning for recharging and to locate charging stations along the way. It can estimate charging time required to reach the destination and initiate battery preconditioning when heading to a DC Fast charging station, effectively reducing fast charge times.

Additionally, the Prologue will benefit from fast and secure Over the Air (OTA) software updates for key vehicle computer modules, thereby continually enhancing functionality and capability. Honda will commence pre-sales for the Prologue this fall, with the SUV set to go on sale in winter 2024.
