2024 Toyota GR Corolla gets some under the skin updates
300 hp hot hatch powertrain stays the same
Toyota is updating its GR Corolla ultra-hot-hatch for 2024. The new year brings some new cosmetic tweaks to the different trim grades, but it also has chassis and aero enhancements that should make it an even better car to drive.
The Toyota GR Corolla‘s party trick stays the same for 2024. The 1.6L triple that makes 300 hp and 273 lb-ft of torque is enough as it is, combined with a GR-designed AWD system and a short-throw six-speed.
What has changed are some tiny details, but Toyota Gazoo says that even the tiniest details matter. The changes here include new mounting bolts for the steering rack as well as the rear suspension. Even the battery ground gets some fastener changes.
Toyota has added aluminum sheets to the front and rear bumpers to enhance aerodynamic performance, which it says should enhance stability. Revised ducts in the front bumper should also help the car’s airflow.
Just like last year, every GR Corolla in Canada comes with a Torsen limited-slip differential at the front and at the rear.
This year there will be two trim levels, the Core and Circuit Edition. The Core model adds red painted brake calipers this year. The Circuit edition gets some slightly better changes, including black forged 18-inch BBS wheels that cut some weight, as well as a black painted grille and front and rear parking sensors. A Blue Flame paint colour is also new for 2024.
Pricing for the 2024 Toyota GR Corolla starts from $46,490, $1,000 more than last year. A Circuit Edition starts from $56,590 with its carbon roof and hood bulge plus suede seating, a $2,600 increase. The 2024 GR Corolla Core is on sale now, and the Circuit should hit dealers in early 2024.
