You may or may not be old enough to remember “The Cannonball Run” Hollywood movie, which was released in 1981, but its effects are still being felt today. This documentary explains the movie’s origins in detail and completes an in-depth look at the Lamborghini Countach, its impact on the world of cars, and how the movie turned it into a poster on countless kids’ bedroom walls.

The documentary serves up some wonderful and insightful facts on the original Cannonball Baker Sea-to-Shining-Sea Memorial Trophy Dash created by Brock Yates some 50 years ago. What started out as a myth eventually turned into a large event attracting numerous competitors desiring to set records. Its place in automotive history was cemented thanks to Yates, Burth Reynolds, and incredible casts with the 1981 “The Cannonball Run” movie.

A good portion of the documentary is devoted to the winged 1979 Lamborghini Countach LP400 S that is heavily featured in the film. If you’ve ever wondered why it looks the way it does and where it is now, this is video is a must-watch.
