Electric vehicles are definitely the stars.
GM hits a pair out of the park.
Nissan is a close runner-up.
With a decent sampling of EVs, sports cars, and trucks, this year’s Super Bowl car commercials are really good
Not all years are good ones when it comes to Super Bowl commercials, but this year’s crop of car-related spots got us to giggle and smile. Only a few automakers joined in but props have to be handed to those who did put in an effort and spend millions of dollars.
GM takes the honours with two really good spots. One remakes “The Sopranos” opening scene with a twist. Instead of seeing Tony drive his Chevrolet Suburban from Manhattan to New Jersey, it features his grown-up daughter behind the wheel of a 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV. If you’re a fan of the show, it’ll get to you.
The other spot is our favorite because Mike Myers reprises his role as Dr. Evil and we’re big fans of Austin Powers. In the 91-second spoof, Dr. Evil is at the helm of General Motors and wants to reclaim his title as the number 1 global threat. It’s absolutely worth the watch.
The next one shows the new 2023 Nissan Z as part of an action movie plot starring Eugene Levy, Catherine O’Hara, Danai Gurira, and Dave Bautista as well as the new Ariya. Also included in the commercial is Captain Marvel and Nissan Brand Ambassador, Brie Larson.
