Here are the electric vehicles we expect in Canada in 2026

Here is a list of 35 new electric models that are expected on the Canadian market in 2026.

  • About 35 electric models are expected to hit the market in 2026.

  • Some are 2026 models, and others are 2027s.

  • As the industry is evolving rapidly, the launch of some of these models could be pushed to the next year.

Although electric vehicle sales in Canada have remained well below 2024 levels since last February, several manufacturers continue to believe in the future of this technology. Thus, about 35 new all-electric models should be available to Canadian buyers during 2026, even if some models expected next year have been cancelled or postponed.

Here is a list of electric models that are still on track for a commercial launch within the next twelve months.

Acura RSX

Expected Arrival: Second half of 2026

The Acura RSX, a compact SUV with a dynamic design, will be the brand’s first electric vehicle based on an architecture developed entirely in-house. This model will also use the new Asimo OS computing platform for its infotainment system, which will benefit from over-the-air updates. Few technical details are known, but we know this model will offer all-wheel drive via two motors, a sport-tuned double-wishbone suspension, and Brembo brake calipers, all standard. Bidirectional charging will also be included, and the RSX will be produced in Ohio, USA.

The first model from BMW’s Neue Klasse program will be the 2027 iX3, which is expected to arrive in dealerships around the middle of next year. This compact SUV vaguely resembles the dimensions of the gas-powered X3, but sits on an entirely new platform and powertrain. The iX3 50 xDrive version, the only one currently planned, will benefit from a 108.7 kWh battery capable of accepting charging rates up to 400 volts, thanks to an 800-volt electrical architecture. This will allow a 10-80% charge in about 21 minutes and an estimated range of 650 km. The iX3 50 xDrive will be powered by two motors delivering a total of 463 horsepower and 476 lb-ft of torque. The iX3 will also mark a turning point in terms of design and technology for the manufacturer, previewing the brand’s future electric models.

After about two years of absence, the Chevrolet Bolt EV will return next year as a 2027 model. Although it retains the appearance of the old Bolt EUV almost entirely (slight tweaks are made to the rear), the 2027 Bolt will be considerably different from its predecessor. Indeed, the 2027 version replaces the mechanics and electrical architecture of the old Bolt with the Ultium technology used by the manufacturer’s other electric models. Thus, a new 65 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery allows for an estimated range of 410 km, whereas the 2023 Bolt EUV was capable of 397 km. This battery is likely the main reason for the few extra kilos on the 2027 model. Power is also improved by 10 horsepower to reach 210 hp, but torque decreases from 266 lb-ft to 169 lb-ft. The biggest improvement is the fast-charging capacity, which goes from 50 kW to 150 kW, making long trips easier and faster. The infotainment system is also new, and the cabin has been reworked to offer a little more passenger space at the expense of cargo space.

Ferrari EV

Ferrari is working on its first electric model, still without an official name, which was supposed to be unveiled last October. Although its launch has been postponed, this model should still be available to Canadian buyers sometime in 2026. Prototypes spotted on the road in Europe suggest this model will be a four-door SUV, and Ferrari has confirmed a wheelbase of 2,960 mm, slightly less than the Purosangue, its current V12 SUV. Other confirmed data includes approximately 1,000 horsepower from a four-motor powertrain, a 0-100 km/h sprint in 2.5 seconds, a top speed of 310 km/h, a weight of less than 5,100 lbs, and a 122 kWh battery. 800-volt charging will reach 350 kW, and the range is estimated at over 530 km according to the WLTP standard, which equates to about 454 km with the EPA method.

The Genesis GV60 Magma will mark the inauguration of the manufacturer’s high-performance division. This model distinguishes itself from the standard version with technical modifications such as a widened track, lowered suspension, and revised bodywork for aerodynamics and cooling. Based on the Hyundai Group’s E-GMP platform, the GV60 Magma will share its mechanical elements with the Hyundai IONIQ 5 N and IONIQ 6 N, suggesting the use of an 84 kWh battery and a power output of around 641 horsepower and 583 lb-ft of torque. The chassis will also be optimized for performance with upgraded brakes and firmer adaptive dampers. Like other versions of the GV60, the Magma will benefit from 800-volt fast charging, allowing a 10-80% charge in 18 minutes.

The future Genesis GV90 will be the brand’s first three-row electric SUV and thus a more luxurious counterpart to the Hyundai IONIQ 9 and Kia EV9. Based on the “Neolun” concept presented in New York, this vehicle introduces a new design direction characterized by the absence of B-pillars (on the concept) and a sleek silhouette. The interior focuses on unique features like swiveling front seats and a radiant floor heating system. It will sit on the Hyundai Group’s next-generation electric platform, designed to support a large size while maximizing interior space against competitors in the large luxury SUV segment. Few technical details are known at the moment, and it is possible this model will receive a larger battery than the other Korean electric SUVs.

The Honda 0 Series Saloon will be the first sedan in Honda’s new global electric lineup designed in-house. It features a low, wedge-shaped profile designed for aerodynamic efficiency. The engineering relies on the “Thin, Light, and Wise” approach, using a dedicated EV platform that reduces the thickness of the battery floor to increase interior volume. The vehicle will integrate steer-by-wire electronic steering and a battery capable of charging from 15 to 80% in 10 to 15 minutes, according to Honda. The durability of this battery has been a particular focus, with the manufacturer stating that 90% of its capacity should remain after 10 years on the road. This production model is expected to retain 90% of the exterior design of the concept unveiled at CES 2024, and its roofline will be 2 inches (51 mm) lower than that of the current Accord.

Before the arrival of the 0 Series Saloon, Canadian drivers should be able to get their hands on a production version of the 0 Series SUV concept. Like the sedan, this distinctively styled SUV will benefit from high-density batteries allowing for fast charging and a targeted range of about 483 km. This model will be more focused on comfort and family versatility than the sedan, with which it will share its architecture. Like the Acura RSX, Honda’s 0 Series models will use the new ASIMO OS technologies for their infotainment system instead of the Android Automotive-based system currently in use.

Hyundai IONIQ 6 N

A high-performance version of Hyundai’s electric sedan, the IONIQ 6 N is directly inspired by the “RN22e” rolling lab. It adopts the technical architecture of the IONIQ 5 N, including the 84 kWh battery and dual-motor configuration. Power reaches 641 horsepower (with N Grin Boost mode) and 583 lb-ft of torque, allowing acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.2 seconds according to the manufacturer. Compared to the standard model, revised for 2026, this N version will benefit from major chassis adjustments, oversized brakes, and an aggressive aerodynamic package, including a fixed rear wing, to optimize handling on the track. It also integrates the “N e-Shift” system that simulates gear changes like those encountered in a gas-powered car. The regular IONIQ 6’s 800-volt charging will still be present, allowing it to go from 10 to 80% in 18 minutes under ideal conditions.

Jaguar EV

This model marks the complete rebirth of Jaguar as a 100% electric ultra-high-end brand. Based on a new exclusive architecture named JEA (Jaguar Electric Architecture), this four-door GT aims to rival the Porsche Taycan. Initial technical information mentions power exceeding 575 horsepower, an estimated range of 600 km, and fast-charging capacity allowing 320 km of range to be recovered in 15 minutes. The design breaks with the past: a long hood, absence of a traditional rear window, and a minimalist lighting signature, previewed by the recent “Type 00” concept.

The Jeep Recon is a purely electric SUV designed for off-roading, inspired by the spirit of the Wrangler without replacing it. It sits on Stellantis’ STLA Large platform. Faithful to the brand’s DNA, it features removable doors and windows as well as a full power top for an “open-air” experience. Technically, it is equipped with the Selec-Terrain traction management system and electronic axle locking technology that allows it to wear the Trail Rated badge. Unlike the Wrangler, it uses a unibody structure and independent suspension, favoring on-road comfort. Performance is not neglected, with confirmed power of 650 horsepower and 620 lb-ft of torque, allowing acceleration from 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h) in 3.6 seconds. The battery is a 100 kWh, 400-volt unit capable of charging from 5 to 80% in 28 minutes.

Positioned as the entry point to Kia’s electric lineup, the EV3 is a subcompact SUV that adopts the angular visual language of the large EV9. To reduce costs and offer an accessible price, it uses a 400-volt architecture (unlike the 800 volts of the EV6/EV9). It will be offered with two battery sizes (58.3 kWh and 81.4 kWh), the larger offering an estimated range around 500 km. The interior maximizes space thanks to the flat-floor E-GMP platform and integrates sustainable materials as well as V2L (Vehicle-to-Load) functionality allowing external devices to be powered. The Kia EV3 is already on sale in Europe and Asia, but we will still have to wait a few months to get our hands on this small EV.

The Kia EV4 presents itself as a “fastback” type sedan that blurs the lines between a traditional car and a crossover. Based on the E-GMP architecture, it will offer a range of 391 km thanks to a 58.3 kWh battery or 488 km to 552 km thanks to an optional 81.4 kWh battery. Front-wheel drive is standard and all-wheel drive is optional. Unlike other E-GMP models from Kia and Hyundai, the EV4 will not have 800-volt charging, settling for 400 volts. The exterior design adopts the “Opposites United” signature with angular lines and a digital tiger nose. Inside, the emphasis is on minimalist ergonomics with fully digital instrumentation. This model aims to offer an affordable electric alternative to compact gas sedans like the K4.

The Kia EV5 is a compact SUV tackling the most popular segment in Canada. Aesthetically, it looks like a “mini EV9” with its boxy and robust silhouette. It will be offered with two battery options (60.3 kWh and 81.4 kWh), the latter targeting a range of about 460 km. The interior stands out for its modularity, offering bench-style connected front seats and a camping table integrated into the cargo floor. It uses a 400V architecture to maintain an aggressive entry price, which should place it among the most affordable electric SUVs on the market. Front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive variants will be offered. American buyers will not have access to this model, which will be a Canadian exclusive in North America.

The Kia PV5 marks the brand’s entry into the commercial van sector. It is a modular electric van designed to be ultra-flexible: the rear chassis can theoretically be interchanged to transform the vehicle, but we will only get the cargo van version, at least for now. Its futuristic design prioritizes interior space with a flat floor and significant ceiling height. Estimated range is around 360 km thanks to a 71.2 kWh battery. Only a single-motor version developing 161 horsepower and capable of carrying loads weighing up to 1,500 lbs (690 kg) will be offered.

The very first Range Rover Electric promises to retain the brand’s legendary off-road capabilities, including a wading depth of 848 mm. It sits on the Modular Longitudinal Architecture (MLA) and will use an 800-volt system for ultra-fast charging. Land Rover aims for performance comparable to its V8 models, in both power and torque. The design is expected to remain faithful to that of the current Range Rover, with only subtle details like a closed grille to distinguish it from the combustion versions.

Lexus is preparing the electrification of its most popular sedan. The next-generation Lexus ES will offer both hybrid and fully electric models for the first time. The ES EV will be available as the front-wheel-drive ES 350e and the all-wheel-drive ES 500e. Lexus confirmed that the former will have 221 horsepower and be able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.9 seconds, while the latter will have 338 horsepower and accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds. Unlike the sporty IS, this sedan will prioritize comfort and a quiet ride, as its predecessors always have. It is expected to use an improved version of Toyota’s e-TNGA platform. The ES 350e will have a range of about 483 kilometers, but that of the ES 500e has not been announced yet.

Lucid Earth

After the Air sedan and the large Gravity SUV, the Lucid Earth will be the brand’s midsize SUV, directly targeting the Tesla Model Y. It aims for a much higher production volume with a more accessible price (around $48,000 US). It will benefit from Lucid’s motor miniaturization technology, offering efficiency unmatched in its category. The design should be aerodynamic and fluid, maximizing interior space despite smaller exterior dimensions than the Gravity. This model will be manufactured in Saudi Arabia and eventually, it is expected to share its platform with two other midsize models.

Mercedes-Benz CLA with EQ Technology

The new electric Mercedes-Benz CLA will inaugurate the MMA (Mercedes-Benz Modular Architecture) platform. Inspired by the Vision EQXX concept, it promises record efficiency with a targeted consumption of 12 kWh/100 km and a range that should exceed 600 km according to EPA standards. It will feature an 800V architecture allowing 400 km of range to be recovered in 15 minutes. This sedan will also introduce the new MB.OS operating system, integrating artificial intelligence. In Canada, the rear-wheel-drive CLA 250+ (268 hp, 247 lb-ft of torque) and CLA 350 4MATIC (349 hp, 380 lb-ft of torque) versions will be offered, before being joined by hybrid models later in the year.

The successor to the EQB, which will take the name GLB with EQ Technology to distinguish itself from the gas model (which is also revised), will sit on the new MMA platform, like the CLA. This will allow it to offer better range and vastly improved charging speeds of up to 320 kW. It will retain a significant advantage over its competitors: an optional 7-seat configuration in a compact format. The design will be more aerodynamic while keeping the practical boxy aspect for cargo volume. The two power levels, GLB 250+ and GLB 350+ 4MATIC, have specs modeled on the CLA models of the same name.

The electric Mercedes-Benz GLC will replace the GLC in the German manufacturer’s lineup, but unlike its predecessor, this new compact SUV will be available in North America. The GLC with EQ Technology will sit on the MB.EA platform dedicated to medium and large vehicles. It aims to become the brand’s electric best-seller. The focus will be on a real-world range of about 550 km and a superior level of interior luxury, with the Hyperscreen option. It will compete directly with the Porsche Macan EV and the Audi Q6 e-tron with high-energy-density 94 kWh battery technology capable of charging at a speed of 330 kW. Power should reach 483 horsepower and we know that the rear-axle steering will be able to turn up to 4.5 degrees.

Mercedes-Benz VLE EV

Mercedes-Benz will create the luxury minivan market in North America when it launches the VLE sometime next year. This new electric minivan will be based on the dedicated VAN.EA platform, which will also spawn a version powered by a combustion engine. Unlike adapted utility vans, this model is designed from the start as a luxury electric vehicle. It will target VIP and high-end family clientele, offering great ride comfort, a range adapted for long distances (nearly 500 km), and Level 3 autonomous driving technologies for highway travel. An even more luxurious version called VLS will be added to the lineup later, possibly in 2027.

Mercedes-AMG GT XX EV

The Mercedes-AMG GT XX EV will be the first car entirely developed by AMG on its own electric architecture (AMG.EA). It is expected to replace the current GT 4-Door. The masterpiece is the use of axial-flux motors, much lighter and more compact, allowing a combined power of 1,341 horsepower. The 800-volt battery should make very fast charging speeds possible, judging by the concept, which can accept up to 850 kW. The top speed of this sleekly profiled sedan is announced at 360 km/h, giving an idea of the level of performance to be expected.

Mercedes-AMG SUV EV

This dedicated AMG SUV will not be a modified version of an existing Mercedes-Benz model, but a unique vehicle designed by the performance division. Also based on the AMG.EA platform, it will be a high-performance electric SUV. It will display imposing dimensions (over 5 meters) and power exceeding 1,000 horsepower thanks to the same axial-flux motors as the sedan. The design will be aggressive, with a sloping roofline and a specific lighting signature. It represents AMG’s answer to the Lotus Eletre and Porsche’s future large SUV.

Thanks to the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi alliance, the small Japanese manufacturer will be able to add an electric vehicle to its lineup without investing an astronomical sum in its development. Indeed, Mitsubishi will offer a version of the new Nissan Leaf in the coming months. Judging by the preview images released by the brand, aesthetic changes will be minor. Thus, we can assume that this model, which could revive the Lancer name, will be equipped with a 75-kWh battery and a front motor producing 214 horsepower and 261 lb-ft of torque. As the Nissan Leaf can travel up to 488 km on a charge, Mitsubishi’s future EV should have a similar range.

Polestar 5

The Polestar 5 is a large 4-door GT that remains very faithful to the “Precept” concept. It sits on a bonded aluminum chassis (technology derived from F1) to maximize rigidity and reduce weight. Featuring an 800V architecture, it will develop 738 to 872 horsepower thanks to two motors. Its 106-kWh battery should allow a range of about 530 kilometers on the standard model and about 480 km on the Performance model. A distinct feature of the Polestar 5’s design is the total absence of a rear window, replaced by cameras and a panoramic glass roof extending towards the rear, offering a unique silhouette and optimized aerodynamics. This solution has already been seen on the Polestar 4 and seems on its way to becoming a characteristic of the brand.

Porsche Cayenne EV

The Porsche Cayenne EV will be produced alongside the combustion versions, which will continue to be offered for a few more years. The Cayenne EV will sit on the PPE (Premium Platform Electric) platform, shared with the Macan EV but lengthened. It promises charging speeds of 390 kW and typically Porsche driving dynamics thanks to rear-wheel steering and sophisticated air suspension. A 1,139-horsepower “Turbo” version is expected to compete with electric super-SUVs. This should allow the Cayenne EV to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.5 seconds and charge from 10 to 80% in just 16 minutes.

Rivian R2

The Rivian R2 is the crucial model for the brand’s expansion. More compact and cheaper than the R1S, it retains the adventurous style and distinctive lighting signature of the young manufacturer. It will use a new simplified platform to reduce production costs. It will be natively equipped with the NACS charging port and promises competitive range with off-road capability superior to the average compact SUV. Three powertrains are planned, ranging from one to three motors. The latter configuration should make acceleration from 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h) in less than 3 seconds possible.

Slate Truck

Slate Auto is an American startup intending to bring simple and affordable trucks of the past back to the North American market. To do this, the company will launch a compact electric pickup with two doors and a short bed that should start around $25,000 in the US. To achieve such a low price, drivers will of course have to make some compromises, notably omitting the radio and infotainment system, as well as dealing with manual windows. The other aspect that distinguishes this small truck from currently available models is the high level of customization possible. Indeed, Slate proposes multiple options allowing each vehicle to be unique, even going as far as enabling conversion into an SUV by adding a roof over the cargo space, a bit like the Bronco, Blazer, and Ramcharger of the 70s. A single 201-horsepower motor will be available, but buyers will be able to choose two batteries, one allowing about 240 km of range and the other about 386 km.

Subaru Trailseeker

The Subaru Trailseeker will be the brand’s second electric SUV. Larger and more robust than the Solterra, it is designed for adventure with 210 mm of ground clearance. It will offer a range of about 420 km and a towing capacity of 1,500 kg, plus power of about 375 horsepower, courtesy of two motors. Unlike the Solterra, it integrates the NACS charging port from the start. Its electric symmetrical all-wheel drive system has been calibrated specifically to offer superior off-road performance in deep mud and snow. Its elongated format recalls that of a wagon and could make it an electric alternative to the Outback.

Subaru Uncharted

The Subaru Uncharted is a subcompact electric SUV emphasizing urban versatility and weekend escapes. With a sportier “fastback” type design, it targets an estimated range of 480 km for the standard front-wheel-drive model. The Uncharted will be the only Subaru vehicle available in Canada without all-wheel drive, other than the BRZ. Unlike the sports coupe, the Uncharted can be equipped with all-wheel drive for an extra cost, which will also have the effect of boosting power to 338 horsepower. It will also be equipped with the latest EyeSight safety technologies and a modern interior with a 14-inch screen. Charging capacity allowing a 10 to 80% charge in 30 minutes will be included, and dual-motor models will be able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 5 seconds.

Toyota brings the C-HR name back to Canada in the form of a dedicated EV, which is strongly linked to the Subaru Uncharted. This compact crossover displays a distinctive design with available two-tone paint. It will be offered in front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive with 338 hp, like its counterpart at Subaru. Estimated range reaches 500 km for the FWD model thanks to a 77 kWh battery, and 150 kW charging allows going from 10 to 80% in 30 minutes. The interior is modernized with a digital cockpit and massive use of recycled materials, aligning with Toyota’s carbon neutrality strategy.

The Toyota bZ Woodland is aimed at outdoor enthusiasts. Inspired by the Woodland edition of the RAV4, this electric model, which will also be sold by Subaru under the name Trailseeker, will offer a raised suspension, Falken Wildpeak all-terrain tires, and robust bronze-colored wheels. Although its style is close to the regular bZ, its body is lengthened to offer more space inside and in the cargo area. A 74.7 kWh battery will make an estimated range of 418 kilometers per charge possible, and stops at Level 3 chargers should take about 30 minutes to go from 10 to 80% charge. Like Toyota and Subaru’s other new electric vehicles, the bZ Woodland will benefit from the NACS charging port from the start of production.

In 2021, Toyota presented an electric pickup concept that strongly resembles the current Tacoma. Indeed, this concept served to preview the design of the gas-powered truck, but it should also lead to an electric version. This model will retain the robust chassis (TNGA-F) of the current Tacoma to ensure durability faithful to the brand’s image. We don’t know much else about this possible electric Tacoma, and Toyota hasn’t given it much public attention since the concept’s unveiling, casting doubt on its arrival in North America, which was supposed to happen sometime in 2026.

Volvo EX60

Our list ends with the Volvo EX60, an electric counterpart to the Swedish brand’s best-selling model, which will be unveiled in January. This compact SUV will be the first to use the new SPA3 platform, which integrates a denser battery as a structural element. All of Volvo’s upcoming electric models will use this same architecture, making the EX60 even more important. Few other details are known, except that this model’s design will resume the same themes as those of the EX30 and EX90. Additionally, the EX60 will introduce a new multi-adaptive seatbelt technology that promises to improve front occupant safety by adapting to their size and driving position to better react in the event of a collision.
