Here are the Top 10 Cars with the Greatest Price Increases in July 2022

The used car market is doing the yo-yo dance and this time it’s rising

  • Used Car Prices Once More on the Rise

  • July 2022 is the second consecutive month of used pricing increases.

  • Both June and July come after four months of decrease.

Yup, this old nugget. Used car prices have once again risen in July, this time up 10.9% on average over the same period in 2021.

The once-more rising prices are being fueled by low inventories due to the wide-ranging effects of the long-lasting global chip shortage. Speaking of fuel, the sustained high gasoline prices are also responsible for the price hikes.

In fact, although the average increase is 10.9% (was 10.5% in June), hybrid used car prices are up 30.5%, and, wait for it, the average used electric vehicle has shot up by a whopping 56.7% according to iSeeCars.

Of the top 10, eight are electrified in one way or another and one is offered with hybrid technology although it is not specified in the chart. The twisted part is that the car with the greatest increase, year-over-year, was not so long ago one of the highest depreciating cars.
