Audi unveiled a new variant of its popular Q3 crossover, the Q3 Sportback.
Another model makes its way into Audi’s lineup, this time it’s a new “compact SUV in coupé shape”. Indeed, the German manufacturer lifted the veil last week on the all-new Audi Q3 Sportback.
The carmaker describes the Q3 Sportback as a combination of “strong presence and versatile everyday convenience of an SUV with the sporty elegance and agile handling of a coupé.”
In Europe, the model will get a gasoline and a diesel engine, the 2.0 TFSI and 2.0 TDI respectively. The TFSI, which is marketed as the Audi Q3 Sportback 45 TFSI quattro S tronic, develops 230 metric hp while the TDI has an output of 150 metric hp.
At first, the Q3 Sportback will only come with the S tronic dual-clutch transmission but shortly after its launch Audi will make the SUV available with a manual transmission.
Even though it’s a coupe, the cargo capacity is pretty good with a range of 530 L (18.7 cu ft) to 1,400 L (49.4 cu ft). Audi will also offer an optional electric tailgate that can be open and closed by waving your foot.
The 2020 Audi Q3 Sportback will hit dealers this fall in Europe. A duo of special editions will also be made available for the launch of the new SUV, they are called “edition one dew silver” and “edition one mythos black”.
Is the Q3 Sportback coming to Canada? For now, nothing is confirmed but we can assume that if it comes on our shores only the 2.0 TFSI engine would be offer.
