The allocation will be spread over three model years.
The all-new FL 2023 Honda Civic Type R should break cover before the end of summer.
The anticipation is high. The all-new FL 2023 Honda Civic Type R has been teased many times over the last few months and Honda has remained moot when it comes to details. For would-be Canadian Civic Type R owners, one bit of info has surfaced.
2021 Honda Civic Type R Review: Under the Spell of FWD Perfection
According to a report shared by Motor1, only 546 new CTRs will be available for sale in Canada. And no, this is not for the 2023 model year but for all three model years of projected sales. The Civic Type R has never been a volume car, nor has it been entirely affordable (final retail price in 2021 was $46,200 excluding the Limited Edition) and based on our understanding was never limited to so few units between 2017 and 2021 (five model years.)
The number was divulged by an employee of a Honda dealer in Quebec and so has not been verified and would surely not be even if we asked. The upside to this figure is that the 11th generation FL CTR will be highly sought after, and ultra-desirable, and this despite our guesstimated MSRP in excess of $50,000.
The question is: Where will this leave the FK8? Last year, used Type Rs for sale regularly were listed at or above MSRP (when new) even though they’d traveled 80,000 km or more. Although demand has cooled slightly in 2022, will the unobtanium FL CTR fan the FK8’s values?
