It would be affixed to a Toyota GR86 rival.
Honda teased a concept earlier this year which might hint at the new Prelude.
If the new rumours are true, then Honda is going to do it right this time. The Prelude was a gorgeous premium GT sports coupe that was sold for just shy of 25 years between the late 1970s and early 2000s. Reviving the name and putting it on a new sporty two-door EV for the masses will be the best way to please old fans and make new ones.
This story comes from Best Car and basically states that Honda has sporty EV plans and one may be called Prelude. Back in April of this year, Honda shared details on its automobile electrification business and late in the briefing, they had this to say:
“The “joy of driving” will be passed on to our models even in the era of electrification, and Honda will globally introduce two sports models, a specialty and a flagship model, which will embody Honda’s universal sports mindset and distinctive characteristics.”
It’s unclear whether the Prelude name if used, will be applied to the flagship, which the Prelude was, or the specialty model. It’ll likely go to the latter as the former will probably be the next-generation NSX. Based on the source, it seems clear that the new Prelude will take on the likes of the Subaru BRZ and Toyota GR86.
Confirmation of the “new” Honda Prelude is still a few years away and it is speculated that it won’t arrive until 2028.
