New Prelude to launch in September 2025 with Honda’s e:HEV hybrid technology.
Exterior and interior styling draw from the “Unlimited Glide” concept inspired by gliders.
Practical features include liftback cargo design, split-folding seats, and underfloor storage.
Honda has released a teaser webpage for the upcoming sixth-generation Prelude, confirming the sporty two-door will go on sale in September 2025. This car marks the brand’s return to the Prelude nameplate after a 24-year hiatus, now reimagined for the electrified era with a hybrid powertrain.
The new Prelude is built around Honda’s proprietary e:HEV hybrid system and has been developed under the design concept “Unlimited Glide.” The concept aims to evoke the smooth and dynamic motion of gliders, with a focus on delivering a unique driving experience that balances environmental performance with everyday usability.

Exterior styling includes a sharp, low-slung front nose and glider-inspired headlight design. A wide stance and streamlined side panels with flush door handles contribute to the aerodynamic form. A black chrome-plated front grille adds a visual element.
Inside, the Honda Prelude’s cabin features a white and deep blue colour scheme. The driver and passenger seats are designed with support for spirited driving on one side and comfort on the other. Design details include a softly textured instrument panel, an embroidered Prelude logo, and a D-shaped steering wheel. Exclusive digital instrumentation is also included.
Honda’s Chassis Choices for the New 2026 Prelude Include Civic Type R Parts
Honda says the new Prelude’s package blends performance and practicality. It includes a liftback tailgate (hatchback) for easy loading, split-folding rear seats, and underfloor cargo storage. Large-diameter tires, an optimized wheelbase, and a Civic Type R front suspension setup are built for dynamic driving.
First introduced in 1978, the Prelude spanned five generations and was known for launching several advanced technologies, including the first electric sunroof and the world’s first production four-wheel steering system. The sixth-generation Prelude will return to the lineup as a hybrid front-wheel-drive sports model, and we look forward to driving it.
