This may come as a shock to many car enthusiasts and devoted Honda owners. Honda’s own CEO has clearly stated that the company, which began producing cars in 1963, will be out of the car business altogether in 20 short years.
The somewhat shocking revelation does not come with any details about Honda’s future plans, but some resources believe they will enter the aerospace business and telecommunications. At the moment, Honda is slowly moving away from the internal combustion engine, something it did very well, and developing EVs.
Even so, according to Yahoo!finanzas, the company the next logical step is moving away from cars completely as Honda does not believe that the future of mobility lies in the private car. Despite its recent efforts with EVs and FCVs, they will completely abandon car manufacturing.
Many brands have evolved away from their core businesses in the past, but Honda’s announcement seems drastic and perhaps premature at this point, at least in our opinion. If anything, this news saddens us quite a bit in fact…
