The 2025 Honda HR-V introduces the third model year of the most recent generation, the second one available in North America. On our market, the subcompact crossover is available in several trim levels and with a single powertrain option.
2025 Honda HR-V Changes and Updates
After a comprehensive redesign for the 2023 model year and no changes last year, the HR-V lineup gets one adjustment for 2025, but an important one. The LX and Sport trim levels are now equipped with blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert.

2025 Honda HR-V Warranty Coverage
In Canada, the Honda HR-V is covered by a 3-year/60,000 km Limited Warranty (whichever comes first) and a 5-year/100,000 km Powertrain Limited Warranty, along with a 3-year/unlimited km Surface Corrosion Limited Warranty and a 5-year/unlimited km Rust Perforation Limited Warranty.
In addition, 24-hour roadside assistance is offered on the HR-V for the duration of the base Limited Warranty.
What the 2025 Honda HR-V Does Well
- The HR-V may not be the most spacious subcompact crossover on the market, but it’s among the most accommodating. The latest generation rides on a longer wheelbase in addition to being longer, wider and higher overall. Interior space has improved a little, with marginal increases in front-seat headroom, shoulder room and hip room. The cargo area is bigger than before with the rear seatbacks in place, but it’s slightly smaller with the seatbacks folded compared to the previous-gen HR-V. Despite all this, the Honda still offers rear-seat and cargo space than most of its rivals.
- The Honda HR-V also benefits from a good reputation for reliability, which in turn keeps its resale value high.
- The slim pillars and low beltline allow HR-V occupants to enjoy good all-around visibility.
- The HR-V’s windshield features wiper de-icers as standard, which is great when we must commute on snowy days or during a bout of freezing rain. Also, the HR-V’s low dashboard helps provide an expansive view of the road ahead, which doesn’t sound like an important criterion, but it is.
- The HR-V’s interior sports a clean and tasteful design, while the EX-L also boasts a leatherette-wrapped center console. That’s a nice touch.
What the 2025 Honda HR-V Doesn’t Do Well
- The HR-V fuel economy ratings are slightly worse than the segment average. There’s no hybrid or plug-in hybrid powertrain option either, unlike some competitors such as the Toyota Corolla Cross, the Dodge Hornet and the Kia Niro.
- While the U.S.-market EX-L trim offers a power driver’s seat, that feature isn’t offered at all on the Canadian-spec HR-V. On the flipside, heated front seats are standard in Canada, while a heated steering wheel is optional on the Sport and EX-L, a feature unavailable on all trim levels in the U.S.
- The HR-V is easy to drive, but it’s not the most engaging among the subcompact crossovers. That said, we’re guessing not many buyers in this category are looking for driving dynamics first and foremost.
- The HR-V’s 2023 model-year redesign came with a noticeably higher price range. It’s now one of the costliest subcompacts in Canada.
