The 2021 Honda Insight is a compact four-door sedan available in base and Touring trim levels in Canada as well as LX, EX and Touring trims in the United States.
One engine choice is offered in the Insight, consisting of a 1.5L inline-four engine that develops 107 horsepower and 99 pound-feet of torque, an electric motor producing 129 hp and 197 lb.-ft., a lithium-ion battery pack and an electronically controlled single-speed transmission. The hybrid system boasts a combined output of 151 horsepower.
Largely based on the Honda Civic’s platform, the Insight shares some body panels, but benefits from distinctive front and rear designs. Standard exterior features include LED headlights and taillights, mirror-integrated turn signals, and while 16-inch alloy wheels are fitted to two out of three trim levels in the U.S. market, the Canadian-spec variant gets 17-inchers across the board.
The 2021 Honda Insight is also equipped with a slew of advanced safety features as standard, such as forward collision warning with autonomous emergency braking, lane departure warning and lane keep assist, road departure mitigation, adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition and auto high beams. Blind spot monitoring is included in all but the base U.S. trim.
Meanwhile, available comfort and convenience features include a power sunroof, rain-sensing windshield wipers, dual-zone automatic climate control, a remote engine starter, an eight-way power driver’s seat, heated front and outboard rear seats, leather upholstery, a premium 10-speaker stereo and navigation. The LX trim in the U.S. features a five-inch infotainment touchscreen, while every other Insight variant gets an eight-inch screen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration as well as SiriusXM compatibility.
