Post teases full-N version of Kona
Part of 7-strong N and N Line plan
Over the weekend, Hyundai seems to have confirmed that there will be an N version coming to the Kona. A performance version of the Hyundai crossover that would seem to plug the gaping hole in the fun car market that’s developed since the hot hatch’s shine began to fade.
It was through an Instagram post for Christmas, where Hyundai’s social media team posted a festive shot of a closed face helmet with a Santa hat on top. But it’s where that helmet was placed that looks like confirmation of a Kona N on the way.
We’ve heard previous rumours and signs of spy shots, but then the Hyundai Kona N Line was confirmed and then the rumours were put on the back burner. Until now.
Because that’s clearly a Hyundai Kona crossover’s hood in the photo, and it’s wrapped in the N camouflage turned wrapping paper that we’ve seen on other N model teasers including the latest Elantra. It says “even Santa’s gotta be safe” and is tagged HyundaiN.
What could a Kona N mean? Well, how about the 275 hp turbo-four that started in the Veloster N and is headed to the Hyundai Elantra N for 2022? With the limited-slip differential from those models, and maybe even a manual gearbox? Ok, probably not that, but a dual-clutch auto and all-wheel drive sound like a reasonable replacement to the hot hatch to us.
